Nebraska Commercial Learner's Permit (LPC)

A Nebraska Commercial Learner's Permit will authorize the person to operate a commercial motor vehicle for learning purposes when accompanied by a person who is at least 21 years of age and who has a CDL for the class of vehicle being driven. Minimum age 18.

Nebraska Restricted CDL (RCDL)

A restricted Nebraska Commercial Driver's License held in conjunction with a seasonal permit (SEP) allows a Nebraska resident to drive a Class B or C commercial motor vehicle for purposes of farm related or farm related service industry within 150 miles of employer's place of business or the farm or ranch currently being served. Employees working for the following farm related or ranch related service industries may be issued RCDL's: Custom Harvesters, Retail Agricultural Outlet or Supplier, Agricultural Chemical Business, Livestock Feeders. Minimum age 18.

Nebraska Seasonal Permit (SEP)

A Nebraska Seasonal Permit when held in conjunction with a Restricted Driver's License (RCDL) allows a Nebraska resident to drive a Class B or C commercial Motor vehicle for purposes of farm related or farm related service industry within 150 miles of employer's place of business or the farm or ranch currently being served. Employees working for the following farm related or ranch related service industries may be issued SEP's: Custom Harvesters, Retail Agricultural Outlet or Supplier, Agricultural Chemical Business, Livestock Feeders. Minimum age 18.

Nebraska School Bus Permit

A Nebraska school bus permit is required of the driver of all vehicles that transport one or more school children provided such transportation is sponsored and approved by a Board of Education. A permit is not required for carrying members of licensee's household in a private motor vehicle. Class of bus permit is determined by vehicle capacity rating (includes driver) and vehicle's intended use. Minimum age 18.

Nebraska CDL Written Knowledge Tests

You will need to pass the Nebraska Knowledge Tests that are required for the class of license, restriction, and endorsements you wish to possess. A general knowledge test for the Class A or Class B and C license must be successfully completed by all CDL applicants. The information needed to pass these tests is contained in the FREE Nebraska CDL Handbook. Please read and study this manual carefully.
  • Class A - 70 Questions (50 GK + 20 Combination Vehicles) - Skills test required.
  • Class B - 50 Questions - Skills test required.
  • Class C - 50 Questions - Skills test required for bus, school bus and air brakes vehicles..
  • Passenger Endorsement - 20 questions - Skills test required in bus.
  • School Bus Endorsement - 25 questions - Skills test required in school bus.
  • Doubles/Triples Endorsement - 20 questions - No additional skills tests.
  • Tank Vehicle Endorsement - 20 questions - No additional skills tests.
  • Hazardous Materials Endorsement - 30 questions - No additional skills tests.
  • Air Brake Restriction Removal - 25 questions - Additional skills test in vehicle with Air Brakes.
